STILL LIFE
This
exercise with light and shadow, the different
textures of glass and fabric and a contrast between
the
living flowers and the inanimate objects was
interesting
to do. I found it was easier to paint the various
objects
if I stopped to handle them from time to time, to get
the feel not only of the hard coldness of the bottle,
but
its roundness as well.
I believe that we learn by
practice… it is the performance of a
dedicated precise set of
acts, physical or intellectual, from which
come shape of achievement,
a sense of one's being, a satisfaction of
spirit. (Martha
Graham)
