QUICK
STUDIES
In
order to ‘loosen’ up my painting, I will from time to time
paint very quickly. For instance, this study was
finished in
30 minutes. To make it easier to paint rapidly, only
one
colour is used and this enhances the feeling of
looseness.
Things are modeled instead of ‘painted’.
How difficult it is to be
simple. (Vincent
van Gogh)
Done
entirely in sepia, I have tried to give the
impression of a warm, sunny day by creating oases of
cool shadows.
I wished to copy nature. I could not. But I was satisfied when I
discovered the sun, for instance, could not be reproduced, but only
represented by something else. (Paul Cézanne)
Summer Day
The
vibrant green of growing life. Working in a garden of
flowers is another passion of mine and I feel
fortunate
to be able to combine both the joy of painting and the
joy of gardening.
Profit is a by-product of work; happiness is its chief
product.
(Henry Ford)
