PEOPLE

For quite a while I have wanted to try portrait painting and

who could be a better subject to start with than our

delightful grandson, Sawyer Whitaker. Hopefully, I’ll have a

chance to improve this area of my art before he’s old

enough to critique it.

When I painted his portrait and offered it to him, he glanced at the

canvas, then, looking at himself in the mirror, thought a moment and

said: “Well, no! Keep it!”                                   (Marc Chagall)

Remember that first shock of cold refreshing water on a hot

day when you were a kid? No need for fancy pools or a trip

to the beach – the fountain or hydrant (or even a garden

hose) would suffice.

If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing

up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things of nature have

a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive.

                                                                   (Eleonora Duse)
